HEALTH COMMITMENT STATEMENT
Your health is your responsibility. The management and staff of this organisation are dedicated to helping you take every opportunity to enjoy the facilities that we offer. With this in mind, we have carefully considered what we can reasonably expect of each other. The statement is for guidance only. It is not a legally binding agreement between you and us and does not create any obligations which you or we must adhere to.
Our commitment to you:
- We will respect your personal decisions about what exercise you can carry out, however we do ask you not to exercise beyond what you consider to be your own capabilities.
- We will make every reasonable effort to make sure that our equipment and facilities are in a safe condition for you to use and enjoy.
- We will endeavour to maintain a high standard of hygiene and keep a safe environment for you to exercise in at all times.
Your commitment to us:
- You should not exercise beyond your own abilities. If you know or are concerned that you have a medical condition which might interfere with you exercising safely, before you use our equipment and facilities you should get advice from a relevant medical professional and follow that advice.
- You should make yourself aware of any rules and instructions, including warning notices. Exercise carries its own risks. You should not carry out any activities which you have been told are not suitable for you.
- You should let us know immediately if you feel ill when using our equipment or facilities. If you are feeling unwell, we advise you to stop exercising and seek the relevant medical advice.
- You must inform a member of staff on your first visit if you have a medical condition that may put you at risk.
- You must NOT visit the gym should you develop any signs of covid 19, this includes a persistent cough or a high temperature.
- You will respect the hygiene principles when training and agree to clean down your equipment with the sanitiser and clothes available.
- You will respect the social distancing rules we have set out within the facility and respect other members at all times when using our facilities.
- This information given by you on entering this agreement is correct and accurate and a be relied upon by us.
IRON LION GYMNASIUM – MEMBERSHIP TERMS & CONDITIONS
- MEMBERSHIP
Memberships are non-contract and continue on a rolling monthly basis until cancelled.
Membership fees remain payable regardless of attendance or usage. Failure to use the Gym does not entitle a member to a refund, partial refund, credit, or suspension of payments.
Memberships are subject to availability, Gym capacity, and successful completion of the registration process.
Members must be aged 18 years or over. Iron Lion Gymnasium reserves the right to request photographic identification at any time.
Membership is personal to the member and may not be transferred, shared, sold, or assigned to another person.
- PAYMENTS
Membership payments are collected by Direct Debit on the 1st day of each month.
The first month, or part-month, will be collected upon joining by card payment.
If a payment fails or falls into arrears, Iron Lion Gymnasium reserves the right to suspend access until outstanding fees have been paid.
Reasonable administration fees may be charged where payment failures are not caused by bank error.
Membership prices may be amended from time to time. A minimum of 14 days’ notice will be provided before any increase takes effect.
- CANCELLATION
Members may cancel their membership at any time by:
- Cancelling directly with their bank; or
• Emailing ironliongymnasium@gmail.com
Cancellation requests submitted by email must include the member’s full name and contact details.
One calendar month’s notice is required for all cancellations.
No refunds will be issued for late cancellation requests or unused membership periods.
Members should retain confirmation of cancellation. If confirmation has not been received within seven days, members should contact the Gym.
- FREEZING MEMBERSHIP
Membership freezes will only be considered for medical reasons.
Requests must be supported by recent medical evidence from a qualified healthcare professional.
Approval of a membership freeze remains at the sole discretion of Iron Lion Gymnasium.
- HEALTH COMMITMENT
By joining the Gym, members confirm that:
- They are physically capable of undertaking exercise.
• They have completed all required health questionnaires honestly and accurately.
• They understand that exercise carries inherent risks of injury, illness, or death.
Members should seek medical advice before commencing any exercise programme if they have concerns regarding their health.
Iron Lion Gymnasium staff are not medically qualified and cannot provide medical advice.
- 24-HOUR ACCESS AND UNMANNED HOURS
The Gym operates 24 hours a day and may be partially or fully unmanned during certain periods.
Members acknowledge that during unmanned hours:
- Staff may not be present to provide assistance.
• Members exercise entirely at their own risk.
• Immediate assistance may not be available in the event of injury, illness, equipment failure, or emergency.
• Members should use additional caution when training alone.
Members are responsible for familiarising themselves with emergency exits, emergency contact procedures, and the location of first aid equipment.
- CCTV AND SECURITY
For the safety and security of members, CCTV operates throughout the Gym and surrounding premises.
Recorded footage may be used for:
- Crime prevention and investigation
• Health and safety monitoring
• Investigation of complaints or incidents
• Enforcement of Gym rules
By entering the Gym, members consent to CCTV monitoring in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.
- ACCESS CONTROL AND FACIAL RECOGNITION
Access to the Gym is controlled through authorised entry systems, including facial recognition technology where applicable.
Members must only use their own registered access credentials.
Allowing another person to enter using your access, permitting tailgating, sharing access credentials, or facilitating unauthorised entry is strictly prohibited.
Any breach may result in immediate suspension or termination of membership without refund.
Members must report any access issues or suspected misuse immediately.
- SAFETY AND USE OF EQUIPMENT
Members must use all equipment only for its intended purpose.
If unsure how to use any equipment, members must seek guidance before use.
Members must:
- Re-rack all weights after use.
• Return equipment to its designated location.
• Keep walkways and emergency exits clear.
• Respect safety signage and instructions.
• Use collars and safety devices where appropriate.
Weights must not be intentionally dropped, thrown, or slammed.
Any damage caused through misuse may result in repair costs being charged to the member responsible.
- MEMBER CONDUCT
Members must behave respectfully towards staff, visitors, and other members at all times.
The following behaviour is prohibited:
- Aggressive, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or harassing behaviour.
• Excessive noise or disruptive conduct.
• Smoking or vaping inside the facility.
• Possession, use, or distribution of illegal drugs.
• Being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
• Filming or photographing others without consent.
• Conduct likely to endanger others.
Iron Lion Gymnasium reserves the right to remove or suspend any member whose behaviour is considered inappropriate.
- PERSONAL TRAINING
Personal training services may only be provided by trainers authorised by Iron Lion Gymnasium.
Members may not conduct paid coaching, training, or business activities within the Gym without written permission.
- PERSONAL BELONGINGS
Lockers are provided for convenience only.
Members should not leave belongings unattended.
All items are left at the owner’s risk.
Iron Lion Gymnasium accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to personal property unless caused by proven negligence.
- CLOSURES AND MAINTENANCE
The Gym may occasionally close all or part of its facilities due to:
- Maintenance
• Repairs
• Equipment replacement
• Health and safety concerns
• Utility failures
• Emergencies
• Circumstances beyond our control
Where possible, notice will be provided in advance.
Temporary closures will not normally entitle members to refunds, compensation, or membership extensions.
- LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
Members use the Gym entirely at their own risk.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where exclusion would be unlawful.
Subject to this, Iron Lion Gymnasium shall not be liable for:
- Injury resulting from misuse of equipment.
• Injury resulting from failure to follow instructions.
• Loss or theft of personal belongings.
• Service interruptions outside our reasonable control.
• Injuries sustained whilst training during unmanned hours.
- TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP
Iron Lion Gymnasium may suspend or terminate membership immediately if a member:
- Breaches these Terms and Conditions.
• Fails to pay membership fees.
• Shares access privileges.
• Endangers staff or other members.
• Causes deliberate damage to property.
• Engages in illegal activity.
No refund will be payable where membership is terminated for breach of these Terms.
- RULE CHANGES
The Gym reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions, Gym Rules, and operating procedures at any time.
Updated versions will be published on the Gym website and will take effect immediately unless otherwise stated.
